The International People’s Assembly strongly condemns the military strikes taken against Iran in the early morning of February 28th by the United States and Israel. This attack, conducted without clear justification, is an act of war that against all the peoples of the region and threatens an even wider and more destructive conflict after two and half years of genocidal war against the people of Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.
These imperialist strikes represent a violation of Iran’s sovereignty. This latest intervention is another attempt to impose regime change and advance a zionist agenda aimed at reshaping the region to benefit U.S. strategic interests. It follows a pattern of recent military interventions by the Trump administration around the world, including the strikes against Venezuela that resulted in the killing of hundreds of people and the kidnapping of President Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, as well as an ongoing fuel blockade against Cuba.
We call upon social movements, political parties, labor unions, and all people of conscience around the world to demonstrate their opposition to this aggression. It is essential to uphold the principle that sovereign nations have the right to determine their own future.
