Against Zionism and Normalization

The International Peoples’ Assembly (IPA) notes with indignation the growing influence of the Zionist lobby in Latin America and the Caribbean, which seeks to normalize relations between governments in the region and the Israeli occupying entity. This initiative comes at a time when Israel faces mounting diplomatic isolation and widespread international condemnation for its genocidal war against the Palestinian people.

We draw attention to the Israeli government’s launch, in April 2026, of the Isaac Accords. Building on the Abraham Accords, this initiative explicitly seeks to rebuild and deepen ties between Zionist interests and governments across Latin America and the Caribbean through economic, technological, diplomatic, and security cooperation.

Fully backed by the United States, these accords also aim to bolster the rise of right-wing and far-right forces in the region. Among their principal promoters are the reactionary governments of Javier Milei in Argentina, Rodrigo Paz in Bolivia, and Abelardo de la Espriella in Colombia.

The Bolivarian Revolution, its social base, its government, and its political and popular organizations have long stood at the forefront of the struggle against Zionism. They have consistently denounced Israel’s aggressions, practiced active internationalist solidarity, and used state diplomacy to amplify the voices of the Palestinian resistance that are too often silenced.

In this context, the IPA expresses its deep concern over the announcement by the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela that it will establish a coordination mechanism for the provision of consular services between Venezuela and Israel. We are equally concerned by the opening of channels for technical coordination and consular relations with that country.

The IPA understands this unfortunate policy shift—which may pave the way toward diplomatic normalization—as a regressive departure from the Bolivarian Revolution’s historic and principled solidarity with the peoples of Palestine and West Asia in their struggle against Zionism. At the same time, we view it as a direct consequence of the new situation imposed on Venezuela following the invasion of January 3, 2026, and as part of a broader strategy of coercion and domination led by U.S. imperialism. This strategy includes the complete militarization of the continent through the Shield of the Americas initiative, which the IPA categorically denounces.

The IPA reaffirms its unwavering opposition to Zionism and to all forms of normalization with the Israeli entity, regardless of the justification or pretext used to advance them. The IPA maintains that normalization not only grants legitimacy to the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people and the broader crimes committed against the peoples of the region, but also opens the door to deeper Israeli political, economic, and security penetration throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

The IPA calls on all popular forces in Latin America and the Caribbean to strengthen solidarity and resist Zionist-imperialist penetration in the region. We call on them to oppose all efforts at normalization with a genocidal state and with the broader imperialist project it represents, while defending national sovereignty and the unity of our peoples.

The IPA continues to express its solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution, the Venezuelan people, and their organizations. We call for strengthening the unity of all revolutionary forces in Venezuela and internationally in order to reverse the consequences of this imperialist aggression and restore Venezuela’s historic sovereign position in defense of the Palestinian cause.
