في 22 آب/أغسطس 2024، اعتُقل السياسي المخضرم راشد خان منون، البالغ من العمر 81 عاماً، في دكا بعد الإطاحة بحكومة الشيخة حسينة، وتعرض للاعتداء داخل المحكمة. يرى أنصاره أن سجنه يُعد هجوماً على رجل كرس حياته للدفاع عن الديمقراطية والمبادئ العلمانية، مما يثير مخاوف جدية بشأن مستقبل الديمقراطية في بنغلادش.
Rashed Khan Menon: One year of the political persecution of a leader of Bangladeshi liberation
On August 22, 2024, veteran statesman Rashed Khan Menon, 81, was arrested in Dhaka after the ousting of Sheikh Hasina's government and was assaulted in court. His supporters view the imprisonment as an attack on a lifelong democracy advocate and secular principles, raising serious concerns about Bangladesh's democratic future.
