FREE MADURO AND CILIA
Solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution
Fighting for the release of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores is the immediate task for left-wing and popular organizations around the world, in line with the defense of Venezuela’s sovereignty and against US imperialism.

The Imperialist Escalation Against Venezuela
In the early hours of January 3, US forces carried out a large-scale military operation in Caracas, bombing multiple sites in an effort to impose regime change. The operation culminated in the kidnapping of Venezuela’s democratically elected president, Nicolás Maduro, and First Lady Cilia Flores. This direct assault on a sovereign nation, carried out without a declaration of war or Congressional authorization, represents an unprecedented violation of international law. Within a long history of US illegal interventions and military overreach, the operation in Caracas stands as a precedent-setting act aligned with the logic of the Monroe Doctrine and Washington’s renewed push to subordinate Latin America and the Caribbean to its global objectives.
The US project of imperial domination grows more dangerous by the day. Increasingly conscious of its own decadence and decline, US domination over Latin America and the Caribbean has shed its last pretense. Under the Trump administration, imperial aggression is no longer hidden behind diplomacy or ideology—it is now declared openly, pursued shamelessly, and enforced with brutal force.

The mask has fallen. The US now exercises the Monroe Doctrine in its most extreme form, declaring the entire American continent its unquestionable domain. It has demanded unfettered access to the continent’s natural resources, defied the UN Charter, and, in Donald Trump’s own words, affirmed that there are “no limits” to its imperial ambitions.

The military intervention against Venezuela, which culminated in the illegal kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, marks a new moment of brazen disregard for international law by an administration that has not hesitated to act with aggression.
Witnessing these events is insufficient. What is required now is urgent action and unity among all forces committed to defending sovereignty, to resist this pursuit of hegemony with all our might.
What We Are Fighting For
We stand at the brink of the erosion of multilateral institutions and international law. These institutions have thus far failed to stop the genocide in Palestine. They will not stop Trump’s imperial campaign for control of the Western Hemisphere. From the proposed annexation of Canada to the acquisition of Greenland, from the seizure of the Panama Canal to the theft of Venezuelan oil, and the threats leveraged against Cuba, the Trump administration is pursuing a continental campaign of naked imperial domination that threatens the sovereignty of all nations.
Only the resistance and action in common of people around the world can defeat Trump and his imperialist agenda!
