No to the coup in Bolivia!

By ALBA Movements

ALBA Movements urgently alerts the world to a new attempt of a coup d’état in Bolivia against democratic institutions, rejecting any efforts to disrupt the constitutional order that the Bolivian people have defended through organization and popular mobilization since the recovery of democracy in 2020, following the coup d’état promoted by U.S. imperialism against Evo Morales in 2019.

Both President Luis Arce and former President Evo Morales have denounced irregular movements of various Army divisions to the Plaza Murillo in La Paz, following statements by the General Commander of the Bolivian Army, Gen. Div. Juan José Zuñiga, who affirmed his decision to “prevent” Morales from running again for the presidency, leading to his immediate removal from office.

We call on the social and popular movements of the region to be on alert and mobilize to defend the popular will of the Bolivian people, who elected Luis Arce Catacora as their president in 2020. We stand in solidarity with the organizations and people of Bolivia in the face of this new coup attempt.

The popular and democratic forces of “Nuestra America” demand respect for democracy in Bolivia. This country has not only defended itself and defeated the de facto government imposed by blood and fire in 2019 but has also built a process of change that stands today as an example at regional and global levels. Bolivia is a Plurinational State where the people are the protagonists, and the integration of Latin America and the Caribbean is a priority.

NO TO THE COUP D’ÉTAT IN BOLIVIA!

IN DEFENSE OF THE POPULAR WILL OF THE BOLIVIAN PEOPLE!
