Victories of the Bolivarian Revolution (P2): Afro-Venezuelan Struggle

🇻🇪 Do you know how the Bolivarian Revolution helped turn the centuries-old legacy of Afro-Venezuelan struggle into material power? For more than 500 years, Afro-Venezuelan communities have been fighting for recognition, dignity, and liberation. In 2004, Chavez opened a national conversation about race, history, and Venezuela’s relationship to Africa and Afro-descendant struggles, giving movements material and political form: through law, public policy, cultural recognition, education, economic support, and political power for Afro-descendant communities. Today, Venezuela confronts the aftermath of Trump’s January 3 bombings, abducted leadership, and the ongoing predatory trade policies of the Monroe Doctrine. Afro-descendant communities continue organizing, shaping policy, recovering historical memory, strengthening cultural institutions, developing productive projects, and exercising political power. The Bolivarian Revolution lives on in the Venezuelan people!
