The US has announced the imposition of a naval blockade on Venezuela after months of military build up in the Caribbean, including blowing up boats, killing people, and illegally seizing an oil tanker.
Trump’s escalation against Venezuela is about more than oil, it is about regaining control over the “natural” zone of influence of the United States at a moment where its hegemony is slipping.
